Milford Police Sergeant Treated for Smoke Inhalation After Turtle Tavern Fire

MILFORD – A Milford police officer is recovering from smoke inhalation after helping evacuate residents from the apartments above the Turtle Tavern during Monday night’s massive fire.

As firefighters moved in to battle the flames, Sergeant Patrick Dailey learned that someone might still be trapped on the third floor of the smoke-filled building. Dailey entered to search but found the apartment empty — the resident had already made it outside safely.

Dailey was treated at Milford Regional Hospital for smoke inhalation and has since been released.

No one was injured in the fire, but the 125-year-old building had to be torn down due to extensive damage. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
