The Italian American War Veterans Post 40 in Milford has dedicated a new pavilion to a Milford Marine killed in action in Iraq. Gunnery Sgt. Elia P. Fontecchio died in 2004 while serving with the 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division. He was 30 years old when he died. The Daily News reports this is the third way in which Fontecchio has been honored in Milford. He also has his name at the Fruit Street Extension and Depot Street and at the Interstate 495 interchange on Medway Road.
