A Milford man is facing charges for allegedly collecting rent from tenants for a home he no longer owned. Rui Viera DaCosta was arrested last week. Milford Police Chief Robert Tusino tells the Daily News the evidence shows DaCosta sold the two-family home on Union Street last June but kept the tenants in place until the new homeowners took him to court in December. When the judge ruled against him, DaCosta allegedly threatened the new owners’ lawyer and assaulted a court officer and a Milford police officer. He is charged with assault and battery on a public employee, disorderly conduct and disrupting court proceedings for the incident on top of larceny for the rent collection.
