By MyFM’s Marissa Santos – Elsie Sutherland, a standout senior at Milford High School, and Owen Matthews, distinguished member and co-captain of the MHS Football and Wrestling teams, have been nominated by Commissioner Riley as U.S. Presidential Scholar Nominees in the General award category. Both students showcase academic excellence, leadership, and commitment to their school and community.
Elsie’s extensive involvement in school activities, non-paid community service, and academic achievements make her a well-rounded candidate for this prestigious recognition. Owen, as a captain of Varsity Football and Wrestling, demonstrates his passion for learning and leadership skills, setting him apart as a standout student.
The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program recognizes distinguished graduating high school seniors, and up to approximately 160 students from across the country are honored each year. Elsie and Owen will be invited to complete a new application for consideration for the U.S. Presidential Scholar Award.
