MILFORD – The family of a Milford man who died in the line of duty during World War II has been honored with a Medal of Liberty.
Harry Baram, who served with the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves, was killed in December 1942 when the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Natsek capsized in an ice storm, claiming the lives of all 24 people aboard.
According to Patch, Baram’s nephew, Michael Shain, accepted the medal. The Medal of Liberty is an official award presented to the families of Massachusetts service members who were killed or wounded in action.
