MENDON – The Blackstone Heritage Corridor has named Lauren Oleksyk of Mendon as the 2025 Suzanne Buchanan Volunteer of the Year. Oleksyk was honored last week at the Corridor’s Champions of the Blackstone awards reception.
Officials say Oleksyk, along with fellow volunteer Phil Johanson, scouted and pre-hiked trails for the spring and fall hiking series, ensured participants were supported, and assisted hikers in distress when needed. She also led guided bike rides along several trails and helped introduce new community programs, expanding outdoor opportunities for residents throughout the region.
