NORTHBOROUGH – Authorities have identified the woman killed in last week’s fiery wrong-way crash on Interstate 290 as a Medway resident.
The Worcester County District Attorney’s Office says Sheena Grandpre was driving the wrong way on the highway Wednesday when her vehicle collided head-on with another car.
The driver of the second vehicle was able to escape before both vehicles became engulfed in flames.
The fatal crash comes as Massachusetts continues expanding wrong-way crash prevention efforts, including improved highway signage and new detection technology designed to alert drivers and law enforcement when vehicles enter highways in the wrong direction.
