Medway resident Millie Badalucco has been presented with this year’s Boston Post Cane from the Medway Historical Commission. The 104-year-old received the honor last week. The gold tip cane was given to Medway officials more than one hundred years ago by the Boston Post newspaper when canes were passed out by the newspaper to more than 700 regional officials to instill a tradition of “passing the cane” to the oldest person in town as an honor. Even though the Post itself is long gone, the tradition lives on.
