MEDWAY — A Medway police officer has been recognized for his actions during a critical mental health response.
Officer Ben Leazott received the Norfolk County Crisis Intervention Team’s 2025 Excellence Commendation for his work in locating and helping a suicidal teenager.
Police say Leazott found the teen in wooded area during an extensive search and remained with him while building rapport until the teen agreed to seek help. Department officials say his calm approach and de-escalation helped ensure a safe outcome for everyone involved.
