MassDOT Getting Close to Reopening Fruit Street Bridge

After nearly two years, MassDOT is getting close to reopening the Fruit Street bridge over the MBTA tracks and Sudbury River in Hopkinton. At their meeting this week the Hopkinton Department of Public Works said MassDOT is planning to work toward doing it this weekend. The Hopkinton Independent reports the project was delayed by a year due to the unforeseen depth of the bedrock. The Fruit Street bridge over I-495, which is also being rebuilt with the Mass Pike Interchange upgrade, is open with one-way traffic.
