If you heat your home with gas, you could be getting a break on your bill.  Last week the Department of Public Utilities told the state’s six gas companies they need to reduce energy bills by at least 5% for the rest of what is known as the “peak season” from now through April. In a letter to the companies the DPU Commissioners say increased supply costs and delivery costs on top of the very cold winter have made customers’ bills “unsustainable” with some customers seeing a 27% hike in heating costs this winter. The utilities have until this afternoon to submit a plan on how they will do it.
