Massachusetts Faces Severe Flu Season as Hospitalizations Rise; Health Officials Urge Precautionary Measures

It is a bad flu season and could get worse. Massachusetts Public Health Commissioner Robert Goldstien told the Public Health Council that this is the highest rate in any of the prior five years.  The latest statistics show 6.8% of hospitalizations are flu related and visits to 24-hour care centers or family doctors rose to 10.54% related to the flu.  Goldstien urged people to wash their hands and stay at home when they are sick.
