SHREWSBURY – A man Shrewsbury Police believe intentionally drove his SUV through the police station Monday had reportedly wanted officers to shoot him.
Robert McCluskey faces multiple charges including assault with a dangerous weapon, destruction of property, and reckless operation after police say he drove through protective pylons outside the station, smashed through two sets of doors, crossed the lobby, and then crashed through a wall into the dispatch center.
According to court documents, shortly after the crash a 911 call was received stating that McCluskey was heading to police headquarters for “suicide by cop.”
Police have said no officers, staff members, or members of the public were physically injured in the incident, and the Shrewsbury Police Department remains fully operational as repairs and investigations continue.
