Local police are offering tips on how to avoid getting burned by porch pirates. Hopkinton Police Chief Joseph Bennett says according to the National Neighborhood Watch, nearly 19% of Americans have had at least one package stolen in the past year. He suggests having packages delivered to your job or to a delivery service pickup location. Also set up app alerts, email notifications or text messages to track packages and ask a neighbor to grab them until you get home. Also, he says you might consider getting a video doorbell.
