HOPKINTON – Even with recent snowfall, drought conditions continue to affect many areas of Massachusetts. In Hopkinton, the Director of Public Works has announced that the town’s Mandatory State of Water Conservation will remain in place for residents connected to the municipal water system.
Officials say the town has been in a critical drought stage since March 9 and has experienced some level of drought since last August. Because of that, all outdoor non-essential water use remains prohibited.
That includes activities such as watering lawns or washing vehicles, which town officials say must remain suspended while the drought conditions persist.
