Hopkinton Urges Water Conservation Amid Drought

By MyFM’s Claire Beverly – Hopkinton residents are being asked to conserve water. The town says since it’s been over a month since we had any significant rainfall, groundwater levels have dropped and the aquifer is recharging more slowly so there is less water being produced. And they say the extended forecast predicts continued above-average temperatures and no substantial rain. They are asking residents on the municipal water system to turn off lawn sprinklers to help preserve water supplies for essential daily needs and fire protection. They say if everyone is proactive about it, they won’t have to make it mandatory.
