By MyFM’ s Claire Beverly – If plastic shopping bags are banned in Hopkinton, why are some stores still using them? That was a question posed to the Board of Health at its Monday meeting by a member of the Sustainable Green Committee. The Hopkinton Independent reports the issue centers on the newer style heavy gauge plastic which is considered good for multiple uses, not the single-use version which is what is banned. The Health Department Director said the big box stores have formed a plan to stop the use of any type of plastic bags by 2025.
