HOPKINTON – The Hopkinton State Park upper beach is closed for swimming. The Hopkinton Independent reports the beach itself is open but you can’t go in the water because the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation says testing has shown high levels of bacteria that make it unsafe. DCR will keep testing the water daily and will let us know when it’s safe. Hopkinton’s Health Department says the State Park beaches don’t actively flow so geese droppings and other contaminants don’t easily flush out.
