HOPKINTON – The Hopkinton Select Board voted unanimously Tuesday to fine Crust & Co. on West Main Street $1,000 for opening before all required inspections were complete.

According to the Milford Daily News, owner Ryan Dion told the board he misunderstood the licensing process and apologized for the early opening, describing it as a “soft launch.”

During the hearing, board members also discussed broader concerns about potential financial connections between Dion, landlord Paul Mastroianni, and a former owner who is currently serving jail time.

Several board members called for a deeper review of business transactions and stronger oversight of the town’s licensing process.
