Hopkinton Schools Debate Cellphone Use After Swatting Incident

That’s a question the Hopkinton School Committee is wrestling with in the wake of a swatting incident earlier this month at Hopkinton High School. Police quickly confirmed it was a fake 911 call made October 2 but nevertheless students had to shelter in place while police did a search. The Superintendent says while they know parents want to be in touch, in cases like these when kids can use their phones, a lot of speculation and misinformation gets out on social media which can compromise law enforcement tactics.
