State officials are reportedly set to hear a plan this week that would allow Hopkinton to use herbicides in some public areas to control weeds. The Hopkinton Independent reports the Department of Agricultural Resources will review Hopkinton’s proposed plan tomorrow in a meeting that will be held on Zoom. The Public Works Director Kerry Reed tells the Independent it would be used in areas like railroads, power lines, pipelines, and channels but not for schools, playgrounds or other open space.  She says the town has gotten so big that doing it by hand doesn’t keep up with it anymore.
