HOPKINTON — A Hopkinton man has pleaded not guilty in connection with a September incident in which a child riding a bicycle was struck by a car. On Friday, Arun Vellanki entered a not guilty plea to a charge of negligent operation.
According to Boston 25, surveillance video shows a 5-year-old child riding his bike on a sidewalk as Vellanki was backing out of a driveway. The child suffered a concussion and required stitches as a result of the crash.
Police allege that Vellanki did not call 911 immediately and later misrepresented the sequence of events surrounding the incident. He is scheduled to return to court next month as the case continues.
