Hopkinton Imposes Water Use Restrictions Amid Heat Wave and System Strain

By MyFM’s Claire Beverly – Water use restrictions are now in effect for Hopkinton. The Department of Public Works says this week’s heat wave put an enormous strain on the water system with pumps struggling to keep pace with demand. And with a power outage Wednesday the storage tanks are not refilling to safe levels needed for firefighting and water emergencies. They ask that you use water judiciously and follow the official town schedule for when you can water your lawns. Violations bring a $100 fine and maybe losing your water service.
