Hopkinton Avoids Criminal Charges in Release of Sexual Assault Victim’s Information

By MyFM’s Claire Beverly – Criminal charges will not be filed against the Town of Hopkinton or the Police Department for accidentally releasing the name and some personal information of a sexual assault victim within a batch of legal documents made public earlier this year. The Northwestern District Attorney’s Office issued a report Thursday saying the release of the transcript without the necessary redactions was “avoidable and regrettable” and town attorneys should make sure it never happens again, but criminal prosecution is “not warranted.”
