By MyFM’s Claire Beverly – Hopkinton Town Meeting voters have approved adding a local excise tax to restaurant meals to help pay for some economic development programs. At this week’s Special Town Meeting the votes were 186 Yes and 113 No for the 0.75% tax on top of the existing state tax of 6.25%. On a $100 restaurant food purchase it would add 75 cents that would go to the town.
