HOPEDALE — Police Chief Mark Giovanella has officially notified the town of his plans to retire, with his departure expected to take place in about a year.
Town Manager Mitch Ruscitti shared the announcement on social media, noting that the Select Board is expected to accept Giovanella’s retirement at its meeting this evening. Giovanella has served as Hopedale’s Police Chief since 2011, following his earlier role as a lieutenant in the department.
Ruscitti praised Giovanella’s years of service, calling him “the best public safety official he has ever worked with.”
