Hopedale Man Arraigned After Home Explosion Leads to Bomb Squad Response

A Hopedale man has pleaded not guilty to assaulting a police officer and several charges connected to making explosives following what police called a significant blast at his home Tuesday which brought out the State Police Bomb Squad. James Dec was arraigned Wednesday. As we reported yesterday, Dec was arrested after police heard the explosion at his home on Mill Street. They say a search turned up 91 Class M explosives and five destructive devices plus igniters, and explosive powders along with some cocaine. They also allege he resisted arrest. Following his not guilty plea he was released on $10,000 bail.
