By MyFM’s Claire Beverly – The heavy rain is being blamed for a sanitary sewer overflow in Upton Monday. The Wastewater Department says about 25,000 gallons of partially treated sewage may have discharged into a tributary of the West River over about a ten-hour period starting around 1145am. They emphasize it was not raw sewage but was sewage that had passed through several of the treatment steps but had not yet gotten to the sand filters. The discharge came from a pipe at the Wastewater Treatment Plant at 43 Maple Avenue.
