HOPKINTON – Holiday lights will once again brighten the Hopkinton Town Common this season, thanks to an energetic grassroots effort by local residents. Earlier this year, the town announced that it could not allocate the $10,000 needed for the annual display, prompting community members to step in and find a solution themselves.
According to the Hopkinton Independent, a community organizer shared in an email that they have raised more than $11,000, which will be handed over to the Parks and Recreation Department to fund the decorations. Supporters say they are hopeful the display will be installed before the Holiday Stroll on December 6.
