GRAFTON – The Town of Grafton could be staring down a budget gap of more than $1 million next year as officials begin early planning for the fiscal 2027 budget.
At a Finance Committee meeting this month, officials reviewed preliminary figures that show a potential shortfall of about $1.4 million, with projected expenses outpacing anticipated revenue. The Community Advocate reports that rising healthcare costs, inflation, and cost-of-living adjustments are among the primary factors contributing to the imbalance. If the numbers hold as budget planning continues, town leaders say Grafton may need to consider significant spending cuts or ask voters to approve a tax override.
