Grafton Approves Pay-As-You-Throw Trash Bag Price Increase

GRAFTON — Prices are going up this summer for the town’s pay-as-you-throw trash program.

At their meeting last week, the Grafton Select Board voted to nearly double the cost of official trash bags, with the goal of having the program fully pay for itself. Starting in July, a small roll of trash bags will increase from $8 to $15, while a large roll will rise from $14 to $24.

Town officials say the pricing structure is designed to directly link the amount of trash residents generate with the actual cost of disposal. They note that the approach has already helped reduce how much trash is being sent to landfills, while encouraging more composting and recycling across the community.

The updated pricing will take effect at the start of the new fiscal year.
