FRANKLIN – The funeral is today for Uxbridge Police Officer Stephen LaPorta, who died last week after being struck by a tractor trailer while assisting a driver on the side of the road.
Hundreds of residents and law enforcement officers from across the region gathered at St. Mary’s Church in Franklin on Tuesday to pay their respects during Officer LaPorta’s wake.
His funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. this morning, with street closures in effect around Church Square and the Town Common from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. as services and the procession take place.
