FRANKLIN – Washington Street K-2 School has been selected to take part in the next round of the Early Literacy High-Dosage Tutoring initiative through the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
The program will provide ongoing, small-group tutoring designed to strengthen foundational literacy skills and improve reading fluency among young learners.
PreK-12 Director of Curriculum Humanities Elizabeth Morrison secured the funding that made Franklin’s participation possible. In the coming weeks, school leaders will identify which students will take part in the tutoring program.
Officials say the initiative aims to give early readers the extra support they need to build strong literacy skills that will benefit them throughout their academic careers.
