FRANKLIN – A freshman at Franklin High School is being recognized for her success in a statewide poetry competition.
Marina Zaki earned third place at the Poetry Out Loud state finals, competing against students from 48 schools across Massachusetts.
As part of the competition, she performed “The New Colossus” by Emma Lazarus, “My Grandmother’s Love Letters” by Hart Crane, and “My Papa’s Waltz” by Theodore Roethke. Poetry Out Loud is a national program that promotes the study and performance of poetry among high school students.
