A runner from Franklin has set an impressive goal, and he is doing it to help a local charity. James Flannery is going to attempt a record-breaking 100-mile run across the northernmost leg of the Appalachian Trail to raise awareness and support for mental health, specifically the Franklin nonprofit SAFE Coalition. Franklin Matters reports the “Hundred-Mile Wilderness” in Maine is considered the most rugged part of the Trail. While it takes hikers at least eight days, Flannery plans to run it in under 30 hours.
