Franklin Receives Grant From US Environmental Protection Agency

FRANKLIN – Franklin has been granted $500,000 from the US Environmental Protection Agency toward cleanup of a Brownfields site at the old Nu Style Jewelry factory off Grove Street,  which is contaminated with metals and chlorinated solvents. Franklin’s director of planning and community development tells the Daily News the town will also kick in $100,000 in federal American Rescue Plan Act money toward the cleanup with the goal of eventually getting the parcel in shape to allow for new economic development.
