FRANKLIN – The Franklin Police Department has launched a new traffic enforcement initiative called “Operation Magic School Bus” to crack down on drivers who ignore school bus safety laws.
The department partnered with Holmes Busing after receiving numerous online complaints about motorists failing to stop for school buses picking up children in the morning.
As part of the operation, police paired a school bus with an officer in an unmarked patrol cruiser following closely behind to catch and cite drivers violating bus safety laws.
The effort began Wednesday and aims to remind drivers that ignoring stopped school buses not only breaks the law but also endangers children’s lives.
