FRANKLIN – With tax season approaching, the Franklin Public Library is once again preparing to offer free assistance through the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program, but they are in need of volunteers to make it happen.

Library officials say there are a variety of volunteer roles available, including greeters and interpreters, though the greatest need is for tax preparers. Training and certification for VITA tax preparation are provided. The VITA and Tax Counseling for the Elderly programs are set to begin in February, and those interested in volunteering can learn more on the Franklin Library website.
