FRANKLIN – Franklin officials are considering requests from neighboring communities to purchase a portion of the town’s available sewer capacity.
According to a memo prepared for this week’s Town Council meeting, both Millis and Medway have requested a one-time, permanent transfer of 100,000 gallons per day of sewer capacity as each community nears its existing limits.
Town officials estimate the agreement would generate $3 million for Franklin. They also note the town is currently using only about 67 percent of its wastewater treatment capacity, leaving room to accommodate the requests.
