By MyFM’s Claire Beverly – The Franklin Town Council has approved the purchase of an unused rail bed from CSX Railroad to extend the Southern New England Trunkline Trail, known as the SNETT.  The $2.57 million purchase will cover about 19 acres of land along Grove Street to the Union Railroad line and will allow extension of the rail trail to the Crossing with access to downtown. Officials call it a win for economic development. $1.9 for the purchase is from the Open Space Stabilization account and $620,250 is from federal funds.
