By MyFM’s Claire Beverly – A former Norfolk County Jail corrections officer is facing charges for allegedly helping to smuggle drugs into the jail. At a press conference Thursday, Norfolk Sheriff Patrick McDermott said Jean Guirand fell under investigation after the Sheriff’s Office got a tip at the beginning of August that he was involved in a conspiracy to bring in drugs. He was confronted and then fired within days of the tip after allegedly admitting he was bringing in the narcotic suboxone. They say in one case he hid it in a fast food bag that wasn’t searched. Two women have been charged with providing him the drugs to smuggle.
