GRAFTON – The site of Grafton’s former Department of Public Works building is officially moving toward redevelopment as a housing complex.
The Select Board has voted to sign the necessary documents to allow the development of a parcel along Upton Road near Morse Street into a 122-unit apartment complex known as The Griffin. According to the Community Advocate, 25 percent of the units will be designated as affordable housing.
The proposal has been under review for several years, navigating both Planning Board and Select Board processes. During that time, some residents and officials raised concerns about the project’s design and its potential impact on local traffic. Others argued that the town could no longer delay progress on addressing its affordable housing needs.
With the Select Board’s approval, the long-discussed project now moves closer to construction.
