Engineers Hit Dry Well at Charleswood School Construction Site

HOPKINTON — Engineers drilling for a water well at the construction site of the new Charleswood School have come up empty.

The project manager told the Elementary School Building Committee that crews drilled down to 800 feet at the designated well location — about 200 feet deeper than what is typically required — but did not find water.

He noted that the result was unexpected, as the area generally produces water at depths of less than 600 feet.

According to the Hopkinton Independent, engineers are now evaluating alternative locations on the site in hopes of successfully drilling a well.
