MASSACHUSETTS – Professional hockey in the ECHL is set to return after the Professional Hockey Players’ Association announced Sunday that it has reached a tentative agreement with the league to end the strike that began Friday.
The agreement still must be ratified by the ECHL membership and approved by the league’s Board of Governors, but the union says players are expected to report back to their teams in good faith and begin preparing to return to play. While details of the deal have not yet been released, players had been pushing for higher pay and more consistent health insurance coverage.
