MASSACHUSETTS — Some lanes are changing in the latest phase of the rebuild of the I-495 and Massachusetts Turnpike interchange, and state officials say drivers should be prepared for an unusual traffic pattern. MassDOT says starting Wednesday there will be a new configuration on I-495 northbound between I-90 and Route 9 to accommodate a newly established work zone.
Under the new setup, traffic lanes will split around the work area, with the right and middle lanes passing to the right of the construction zone and the left lane passing to the left. MassDOT says this pattern is expected to remain in place through the spring of 2026 as work continues on the long-term interchange project.
