WESTBOROUGH – After years of uncertainty, there’s finally a plan for the former Regal Cinemas building in Westborough.
The town seized the property through eminent domain in 2018 after the previous owner appeared to have abandoned it. Since then, the site has been tied up in tax issues, lawsuits, and bankruptcy proceedings.
Last week, officials announced that a Texas-based Hindu organization has won the bid to purchase the former theater complex and plans to convert it into a house of worship.
Meanwhile, the former property owner may challenge the terms of the bankruptcy sale, leaving the final outcome still subject to court review.
