BROCKTON — Tensions are rising within the Brockton Police Department after police supervisors voted “no confidence” in Chief Brenda Pérez.
Sergeants, lieutenants, and captains issued the vote, criticizing what they described as “incompetent” management and comparing the department to “a ship without a rudder.” The supervisors are calling for Pérez to be replaced, citing concerns about leadership and direction within the department.
Mayor Robert Sullivan, however, is pushing back strongly. He says he fully supports Chief Pérez and will not be pressured into making a change, emphasizing that he will not be “bullied” into decisions about city leadership.
As of now, patrol officers have not publicly weighed in on the matter. The situation marks a significant internal conflict that could have broader implications for the department moving forward.
