BLACKSTONE – The Blackstone Public Library is expanding opportunities for local teens and tweens thanks to a newly awarded grant.

Young Adult Librarian Mandi Whipple has received a $2,000 grant from the Worcester County District Attorney’s Drug Forfeiture Community Reinvestment Program. The funding will support five new programs designed for students in grades 5 through 12.

The grant will help launch three hands-on art workshops and two interactive gaming events. Library officials say the programs are designed to align with school curricula in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math — better known as STEAM — while also providing creative and engaging after-school enrichment opportunities.

The initiative aims to give young people in the community more access to meaningful programming that blends creativity, collaboration and learning.
