Blackstone Fire Department Secures Grants for New Gear and Safety Education

The Town of Blackstone is getting some new firefighting gear and continuing safety education thanks to a series of grants. The Town says the Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant program has awarded them around $2300 to buy new turnout gear that is free from PFAS chemicals. The SAFE program which provides grants to teach fire and life safety to children in schools has awarded Blackstone $4,700 to fund school visits and handouts. Senior SAFE is similar but for the elderly and that program has awarded Blackstone $2,200 to fund visits to senior living facilities for fire education.
