Basement Fire Under Investigation on Pond Street in Franklin

FRANKLIN — The Franklin Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the cause of a basement fire that broke out Monday morning at a home on Pond Street.

Firefighters from Franklin, along with crews from Bellingham, Medway, Milford, Plainville, and Wrentham, responded to the 7:30 a.m. call. The fire, which was located in the basement, was brought under control in about 20 minutes.

Franklin Fire Chief Charles Allen said no one was home at the time firefighters arrived, and there were no reports of injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
